Benjamin Engeli comes from a family of musicians and started his musical education on various instruments at an early age. Only when he was fifteen he decided to take his first regular piano lessons, studying with Adrian Oetiker with whom he continued to work until he completed his teaching diploma at the Musikakademie in Basel.
In addition to his piano diploma he also completed a diploma for french horn with Jakob Hefti at the College of Music in Lucerne. From October 2000 onwards, he was part of Homero Francesch's studio at the Musikhochschule Zurich, completing his studies with a soloist's diploma in 2003. He then received further important musical advise from musicians such as Lazar Berman, Andrzej Jasinski, Maurizio Pollini and Andrās Schiff.
Benjamin Engeli won prizes at many music competitions and has received various scholarships and support funding. His concert activities took him to most European countries as well as to North and South America, and in addition to his chamber music career, he is much in demand as a soloist and accompanist.
Since 2007 he is a member of the Gershwin Piano Quartet, a group of four pianist on four pianos.
